False alarm as ship is mistaken for crashed plane off Gran Canaria

Canary Islands emergency staff mistook a shipping vessel in the sea for a crashed plane.
Spanish media reported that a crash had occurred two miles off the island and that rescue services were heading to the scene.

"It's not an airplane, it's a big tugboat pulling a ship," a spokeswoman for the Canary Island emergency services said. The believed it was a passenger plane that had made a safe landing on top of the sea.
