Man United star to leave in swap deal for German ace
Manchester United are closing in on a deal to bring in Ilkay Gundogan to Old Trafford, which could see Shinji Kagawa heading the other way, according to the Metro.
The paper, citing the Daily Star, claims that the Japanese playmaker, who has been unable to make a solid impression in the Premier League since is 2012 switch from Borussia Dortmund, may well be used as a makeweight in a deal for one of David Moyes’ top summer targets.
Reports today insist that United will trump the likes of Real Madrid for Gundogan’s signature at the end of this season, and the idea of Kagawa going the other way could very well make them favourites.
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has in the past been vocal about his appreciation for the man he sold two years ago, and it stands to reason that he’d be happy to take him back if Moyes is open to a sale.
As for Gundogan, he is merely one name on a rumoured shortlist that contains the likes of Toni Kroos, Marco Reus and Sporting Lisbon starlet William Carvalho.
And, with United looking all but set to sell a number of failing first-team stars, Kagawa could well find himself going the other way.
